Our review
The Taj Mahal was built in the 17th century by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum, its gardens, mosque and gateway form one of the world's best-known UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Most visitors come from Delhi; fast trains reach Agra in around two hours, making a long day trip possible. Staying a night lets you see it at sunrise and visit Agra Fort the same day.
