Our review
Chichen Itza is one of the best-preserved Maya cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its centrepiece is El Castillo, the Temple of Kukulcan, a stepped pyramid with a staircase on each side.
The site also includes the Great Ball Court, the Temple of the Warriors and the Sacred Cenote. It's around two and a half to three hours by road from Cancun, so many travellers join a day tour or stay overnight in Valladolid.
