Booking your first international trip from Dhaka involves a few extra steps compared to a domestic getaway, but none of them are complicated once you know what’s coming.

First, check your passport’s validity — most countries require at least six months remaining before your travel date, and Bangladeshi passport processing can take a few weeks during busy seasons, so start early. Next, research your destination’s visa requirements well ahead of time; some, like most of Southeast Asia, offer visa-on-arrival or e-visas that are simple to arrange from home.

Budget for more than flights and hotels: travel insurance, local SIM cards or eSIMs, and a buffer for the exchange rate all add up. Booking flights 2–3 months in advance and travelling in shoulder season (just before or after peak months) usually gets you noticeably better fares out of Dhaka.

Finally, pack light and pack smart — a universal adapter, a photocopy of your passport stored separately from the original, and any prescription medication in its original packaging will save you real headaches abroad. And always share your itinerary with someone back home before you go.

The best trip preparation isn’t about packing more — it’s about handling the boring paperwork early enough that you can stop thinking about it once you land.
