Our review
Lau Pa Sat's octagonal cast-iron structure dates from the 1890s and is one of the most photogenic hawker centres in Singapore. Inside are dozens of stalls serving local favourites from chicken rice to laksa and Indian dishes.
In the evening the neighbouring Boon Tat Street closes to cars and fills with satay stalls, a good spot for a casual dinner among office workers.
“Singapore's colonial landmark since 1887, fully restored in 2019, with 115 butler-serviced suites and the Long Bar, birthplace of the Singapore Sling.”
