Our review

Maxwell Food Centre is a classic open-sided hawker centre on the edge of Chinatown, a short walk from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. It's a good place to try Singapore's signature chicken rice, as well as fish soup, congee and local desserts.

Tables are shared and you order directly at each stall. Bring small notes, though many stalls now accept cards and mobile payments.
