Our review
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has 82 domes, more than a thousand columns and one of the world's largest hand-knotted carpets in its main prayer hall. Its white marble courtyard is inlaid with floral designs.
Entry is free but must be booked online in advance. It's about 90 minutes by road from Dubai, so many visitors combine it with a day in Abu Dhabi.
